There is a big difference between saying "Thank God I found the strength to overcome such and such event", OR "Thank God I found loving support in my time of dealing with such and such event", and thanking God for the tragedy in the first place. A particularly disturbing section in the book (story starts on page 182) describes a child sexual abuse survivor whose memories resurfaced during a self development seminar led by John Demartini (The Secret, What the Bleep). The memories were of grandpa dangling her by her ankles as an infant and having her suckle on his private parts, . Demartini helps her come to a place of tear-filled gratitude about the incident. What message does this send? Child molesters are helping their victims grow spiritually?? Would Demartini be grateful if grandpa dangled HIM by his ankles to do the same thing. While it is pathological to have a consistently negative view about life, it is equally pathological to be positive to the point of delusion. Having strength to overcome a tragedy is indeed something to be grateful for, but to be grateful for the many tragedies that befall innocent people all over the world, every day, is an entirely different matter which rings of deluded thinking.

This book is truly transformational and takes individual's personal struggles to an entirely new level. If you are going through any "traumatic experience," I highly suggest reading this book. Each author takes you on their personal journey of finding universal love and truth and is now actively involved in the world sharing and inspiring other's to their own personal greatness. This book will open your heart, body and soul to limits beyond your conscious comprehension.

What a great idea; stories of inspiration for every situation! Very similiar to Chicken Soup series, however, the Thank God I topics are more real life and grown up because they inspire all of us to be grateful for everything in our lives, even the seemingly difficult and sometimes overwhelming situations we are faced with. Kudos to the authors who willingly shared their stories in order to inspire others. Kudos to the creator John Castagnini.
