Key Features

  • Magnetic Field Measurement
  • Microwave Measurement

Description

The MicMag Handy reads and evaluates magnetic fields & microwaves.

The unique feature of this analyser is its three dimensional measurement capability. This means that it will read any magnetic field present, regardless of where MicMag Handy is directed.

The MicMag Handy shows the relationship between the magnetic field’s intensity and its frequency. When a magnetic field doubles in frequency, the reading will also double. The display goes up to value 2000.

The MicMag Handy measures microwaves up to a range of 2000 relative units. 300 of these relative units correspond to approximately 0.1 mW per centimeter square.

Intensity

The green-yellow-red display grades the measurement value in different intensity ratings:

Green: no increased magnetic field or microwaves.

Yellow: Increased magnetic field or microwaves. It is not advisable to spend a lot of time in this environment.

Red: High magnetic field or microwaves. Spending time in this environment is to be avoided.

Magnetic Field Measurement

To measure magnetic field intensity press the “Magnetic field” button. Measurement activity is indicated by the green LED to the right of this button. Please make sure that the “Microwave” button is not pressed at the same time, as this will result in an incorrect reading.

The measurement of the magnetic field intensity will be shown in the readout display. The corresponding intensity rating (Green, Yellow, Red) will be displayed simultaneously.

You can switch between one and three-dimensional readouts with “1D/3D” switch.

Pressing the “Sound” button activates an acoustic signal.

One and Three Dimensional Measurement

The 1D/3D switch, switches between one-dimensional and three-dimensional.

One-dimensional measurement (1D) only measures the field lines, front to back. This measurement shows where the magnetic field is coming from. Three-dimensional (3D) measurement reads magnetic fields from all directions, adds them together and displays them as one measurement. This has the advantage of including every magnetic field in the vicinity, even if the Analyzer is pointed in the wrong direction, and therefore the measurement is more accurate.

To measure magnetic fields, the following steps must be taken:

1.       Measure the magnetic fields with the 3D measurement

2.       Switch to 1D measurement

3.       Locate the direction of the various magnetic field lines by turning the MicMag Handy around.

PLEASE NOTE: The “1D/3D” switch is inactive when measuring microwaves.

Microwave Measurement

To measure microwave radiation press the “Microwave” button. Measurement activity is indicated by the green LED to the left of this button. Please make sure that the “Magnetic Field” button is not pressed at the same time, as this will result in an incorrect reading.

The measurement of the microwave radiation will be shown in the readout display. The corresponding intensity rating (Green, Yellow, Red) will be displayed simultaneously.

Pressing the “Sound” button activates an acoustic signal.

The measurement antenna for microwaves is located above the readout display.

Acoustic Representation of Measurements (Sound)

The MicMag Handy has a plezo electric buzzer via which the measured field intensity can be made audible. To activate, press the “Sound” button.

The pitch corresponds to the intensity of the field.

This function is useful in an environment where the measurement exceeds the maximum value of the readout display.
